BackgroundIschemia–reperfusion injury following ST‐segment–elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is a leading determinant of clinical outcome. In experimental models of myocardial ischemia, succinate accumulation leading to mitochondrial dysfunction is

BackgroundPrior studies have found that smokers undergoing thrombolytic therapy for ST‐segment elevation myocardial infarction have lower in‐hospital mortality than nonsmokers, a phenomenon called the “smoker's paradox.” Evidence, however, has been ...

Effects of Intracoronary Alteplase on Microvascular Function in Acute Myocardial Infarction
Background Impaired microcirculatory reperfusion worsens prognosis following acute ST‐segment–elevation myocardial infarction. In the T‐TIME (A Trial of Low‐Dose Adjunctive Alteplase During Primary PCI) trial, microvascular obstruction on cardiovascular ...

Selective Inhibition of Integrin β3 Topology Provides a Safer Antithrombotic Strategy
Current integrin αIIbβ3 inhibitors effectively reduce thrombosis but also increase bleeding risk. During thrombosis, high shear blood flow can directly activate the integrin αIIbβ3 via a distinct topological change in the β3 transmembrane domain, independent of hemostatic platelet signaling.

Brown adipocyte sheets are engineered to protect the heart against myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury by restraining ferroptosis. Upon transplantation onto the cardiac surface, they improve cardiac function, limit infarction and fibrosis, and enhance angiogenesis.

Unlike deceased‐donor liver transplantation, living‐donor liver transplantation (LDLT) for Budd‐Chiari Syndrome (BCS) presents distinctive challenges in hepatic venous (HV)‐outflow reconstruction because diseased HV–inferior vena cava (IVC) cannot be entirely replaced with healthy donor vessels.
