Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Primary production of phytoplankton in the three types of Amazonian waters. V. Some investigations on the phytoplankton and its primary productivity in the clear water of the lower Rio Tapajós (Pará, Brazil)

open access: yes, 1982
Four limnological investigations were conducted in different seasons of the years 1968 and 1969 at the lower reaches of the Rio Tapajóz. The physical and chemical parameters generally correspond with earlier findings of other authors. Midriver areas show

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Primary Production

open access: yesPrimary Production
The phytoplankton and macrophytes are the main primary producers in the ecosystem of Tonle Sap Lake (TSL). The average biomasses of the phytoplankton and macrophytes in TSL were estimated at 5.48 ton/km2 and 1489 ton/km2, with the ratios of production to biomass being 185/year and 1.67/year, respectively.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...
