Blindness and prognostic factors after trabeculectomy with mitomycin C in patients with open‐angle glaucoma with long‐term follow‐up

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue 3, Page e232-e238, May 2026.
Abstract Purpose To determine the long‐term blindness rate and related prognostic factors in eyes with open‐angle glaucoma after trabeculectomy using adjunctive mitomycin C (MMC). Methods The retrospective cohort study included 714 eyes from 714 patients with open angle glaucoma who underwent trabeculectomy using MMC.

Single application mitomycin C in primary pterygium surgery [PDF]

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica Scandinavica, 1998
To evaluate surgical results, especially recurrence rate, and to register complications in patients treated for primary pterygium.Nineteen eyes treated with local excision and single application of Mitomycin C 0.3 mg/ml for 5 minutes. Pre and postoperative astigmatism was evaluated by automatic keratometry.

Prevalence, Etiology, and Antifungal Resistance Profiles of Ocular Fungal Infections in Ghanaian Ophthalmic Patients: A Multicenter Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Ocular fungal infections are an important but often underrecognized cause of ocular morbidity, particularly in resource‐limited settings. Delayed diagnosis and inappropriate treatment can lead to poor visual outcomes and increased disease burden.

CRISPR Activation Reveals the Spliceogenicity of an Intronic NEB Variant in Fetuses With Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita 6

open access: yesClinical Genetics, Volume 109, Issue 4, Page 772-777, April 2026.
CRISPR activation of NEB in fibroblasts, followed by RNA‐sequencing, documents spliceogenic effects of a NEB intronic variant. The assay enabled variant reclassification as likely pathogenic, providing molecular diagnosis in fetuses with Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita 6.

Conjunctival-Limbal Autograft for Primary and Recurrent Pterygium [PDF]

open access: yesMedical Journal Armed Forces India, 2008
It has been postulated that pterygium results from hypo function of limbal stem cells. Therefore conjunctival-limbal autograft has been advocated for the treatment of this condition. This study was undertaken to evaluate the results of conjunctival-limbal autograft procedure in primary and recurrent pterygia.32 eyes of 28 individuals with primary and ...

Molecular Landscape in Limb Anomalies: Diagnostic Yield and New Candidate Genes

open access: yesClinical Genetics, Volume 109, Issue 3, Page 424-436, March 2026.
In 132 individuals with limb anomalies, diagnostic yield was 36% (47/132), including 25 novel variants, three cases with new phenotypes, and two candidate loci, HOXA11 and a small 2q31.1 deletion. Mouse data and exome‐wide analysis, key in identifying the candidate loci, represent an important opportunity for gene discovery.
