EFFICACY OF PRIMARY REPAIR IN TERMS OF FREQUENCY OF INTRAABDOMINAL ABSCESS IN PATIENTS OF NONDESTRUCTIVE COLONIC INJURIES WITH COLOSTOMY

open access: yesJournal of University Medical & Dental College, 2013
Objective: To compare the efficacy of primary repair in terms of frequency of intra-abdominal abscess in patients of nondestructive colonic injuries with colostomy. Study Design: Randomized clinical trial.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Prevalence, diagnostic accuracy, and healthcare utilization patterns in patients with COPD in primary healthcare: a population-based study

open access: yesnpj Primary Care Respiratory Medicine
Underdiagnosis and overdiagnosis commonly occur in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients. We assessed diagnostic accuracy, clinical characteristics, healthcare utilization, and care plan registration for patients undergoing primary care ...

Conduit-based Nerve Repairs Provide Greater Resistance to Tension Compared with Primary Repairs: A Biomechanical Analysis on Large Animal Samples

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open, 2018
Background:. When primary repair of transected peripheral nerves is not possible due to large gaps, nerve grafts or repair using conduits are other options to bridge the gap such that the nerve is repaired without tension.
