Bringing Earth Into the Scene of a Primary School
Science Communication, 2013Studies have shown that narrative is a valid tool to transmit science in a school context. We explored science theatre to promote earthquake knowledge and risk preparedness by readapting an old legend describing the 1908 Messina earthquake into a script, which was then performed in a primary school. We evaluated the experience designing a questionnaire

Primary segmentation of auditory scenes
Proceedings of the 12th IAPR International Conference on Pattern Recognition (Cat. No.94CH3440-5), 2002This work addresses the problem of separation of a complex auditory scene by humans, a process which is known as auditory scene analysis. From hierarchal point of view, auditory scene analysis can be described as grouping of auditory entities of one level to form entities of higher level of representation.

On-the-scene emergency care by the primary physician
Journal of the American College of Emergency Physicians, 1976One year's experience with on-the-scene emergency responses by a rural family physician equipped for advanced life-support is analyzed. Sketch-based retrieval on Flash movies via primary scene
Seventh IEEE International Symposium on Multimedia (ISM'05), 2006As a multimedia format, Flash is becoming more and more popular over the Web. The typical structure of Flash can benefit from both image retrieval and video retrieval methods. In this paper, we present an approach of sketch-based retrieval on flash movies with analysis on directional and motional relations.

The capacity to generate naturalistic three-dimensional and spatially coherent representations of the world, i.e., scene construction, is posited to lie at the heart of a wide range of complex cognitive endeavours. Clinical populations with selective damage to key nodes of a putative scene construction network of the brain have provided important ...
