Teachers' Beliefs, Teachers' Goals and Teachers' Classroom Management: a study with Primary Teachers

open access: yes, 2013
Teachers’ beliefs and teachers’ practices tend to fit together. However exceptions seem to be significant. This study, carried out with primary teachers (N = 279), explores the relation of teachers’ classroom management beliefs to teachers’ classroom goals and teachers’ practices. A cluster analysis identified three distinct teaching beliefs’ profiles:

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

Primary school teachers

open access: yes, 2020
This chapter considers the attributes of teacher quality and teaching quality. It investigates four intentional practices required for high-quality teacher development: careful selection; high-quality teacher education programs; induction and support in the early years of teaching; and professional learning throughout the teaching career.

Aqueous Two‐Phase Bioinks for Discrete Packing and Compartmentalization of 3D Bioprinted Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aqueous two‐phase systems (ATPS) enable the formation of biomimetic interfaces crucial for tissue engineering. However, clinical translation remains limited by the challenge of precisely controlling cellular compartmentalization. Here, we developed ATPS biomaterial inks for 3D bioprinting allowing tuneable droplet formation via NaCl modulation.

The Floor‐Ceiling‐Chip, or 2 × 2D = Pseudo‐3D—Approaching 3D Cell Morphology and Organization between Two Opposing 2D Substrates with Cell‐Adhesive Protein Micropatterns

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we present a novel 3D cell patterning and culture platform. The “Floor‐Ceiling‐Chip” (FC‐Chip) consists of two opposing track‐etched membranes, creating a pseudo‐3D microenvironment for the cells in between. By providing the membranes with micropatterned cell‐adhesive islands of varying geometries and sizes, the FC‐Chip enables control over cell ...
