Channel allocation under uncertain primary users for delay sensitive secondary users

2012 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2012
For reducing the channel switching frequency due to uncertain and frequent primary users' interruptions, we design a nonparametric channel allocation algorithm which can effectively manage the spectrum resources in distributed cognitive radio networks and serve for delay-sensitive data traffics.

Capacity Improvement for Cell-Edge Primary User with the Cooperation of the Secondary User in DAS

2011 IEEE 73rd Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2011
Distributed antenna system (DAS) can improve the spectral efficiency of the cellular system, especially at the cell edge. In the paper, we consider the cognitive radio technique to further improve the cell edge performance of the DAS. We consider the following scenario: multiple secondary users (SUs) share the same spectrum with the primary user (PU ...

Coexistence with Primary Users of Different Scales

2007 2nd IEEE International Symposium on New Frontiers in Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks, 2007
Opportunistic radio systems aim to exploit 'spectrum holes' by finding bands and transmission characteristics that will not cause harmful interference to the primary users of that band. This paper explores whether it is harder/easier to peacefully coexist with primary systems that operate at different scales in terms of their coverage area and ...

Impact of Cognitive Communications on the Performance of the Primary Users

Wireless Personal Communications, 2012
This article investigates how the performance of the primary user is affected by the presence of a spectrum-sharing cognitive user. The performance under both cooperative and non-cooperative cognitive schemes is considered. Primary user's transmission rate, average channel capacity, and average bit error rate are considered as the performance measures.

Evaluating user involvement in primary healthcare

International Journal of Healthcare Technology and Management, 2003
Current health policies, both in the UK and internationally, call for a shift from secondary to primary healthcare, and for increased involvement of service users and communities in decisions about their own care and about the way in which health services are provided.

Detection of the Primary User’s Behavior for the Intervention of the Secondary User Using Machine Learning

2018
The predictive analysis for the spectral decision with automatic Learning is a task that is currently challenging. Some automatic Learning techniques are shown in order to predict the presence or absence of a primary user (PU) in Cognitive Radio. Four machine learning methods are examined including the K-nearest neighbors (KNN), the support vector ...
