Cyclosa Menge, 1866 (Araneidae) Orb‐Weavers Build Stabilimenta That Resemble Larger Spiders
Ecology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 11, November 2025.The orb‐weaving spider Cyclosa longicauda from Peru constructs unique stabilimenta from detritus and silk that visually resemble a larger spider. This previously undescribed behavior likely functions as a sophisticated anti‐predator strategy, with the structure serving as a decoy to misdirect or repel attacks.
