Protein‐Independent Liquid–Liquid Phase Separation of Adenosine Triphosphate Under Crowded Conditions

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
ATP itself is able to undergo liquid–liquid phase separation in the presence of the macromolecular crowding agent PEG and physiological ATP concentrations are sufficient for phase separation in the presence of mM Mg2+ and crowders, mimicking intracellular conditions.

Vibrational Circular Dichroism Spectra of 2,5‐Diaminoterephtalate Macrocycles Reveal Distant Vibrational Exciton Coupling

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The energy level diagrams for the ν(C═O) and the δ(N─H) vibrations, resulting of combining in‐phase and out‐of‐phase modes on the basis of their local symmetries, was built by applying the exciton coupling theory to a new class of chiral macrocycles, based on the 2,5‐diaminoterephthalate scaffold.

Reversible Cystine Disulfide Scaffolding Enables Carbonyl Sulfide‐Mediated Intramolecular Peptide Bond Formation via Cyclocystine: Implications for Prebiotic Chemistry

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Cystine is unique among amino acids, in that the disulfide bond can allow intramolecular peptide bond formation. This cyclization offers potential advantages for intramolecular coupling selectivity in prebiotic peptide formation. ABSTRACT Treatment of cystine (the disulfide‐linked dimer of cysteine) with carbonyl sulfide (COS) results in the formation ...

Uncatalyzed Guanosine Phosphorylation under Potentially Prebiotic Conditions

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Pyrophosphate acts as phosphorylating agent of guanosine under simple wet‐dry cycles without condensing agent and inorganic catalysts to afford cyclic guanosine monophosphate derivatives useful for oligomerization in prebiotic processes. ABSTRACT The phosphorylation of nucleosides and their subsequent polymerization are key issues in the study of the ...

Compact Manifolds With Unbounded Nilpotent Fundamental Groups and Positive Ricci Curvature

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT It follows from the work of Kapovitch and Wilking that a closed manifold with nonnegative Ricci curvature has a uniformly almost nilpotent fundamental group. Leftover questions and conjectures, have asked if in this context the fundamental group is actually uniformly almost abelian. The main goal of this work is to construct examples (Mk9,gk)$(

Challenges and Pitfalls to Diagnosing NUTM1‐Rearranged Neoplasia of the Pancreas by Cytology and Ancillary Studies

open access: yesDiagnostic Cytopathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fine‐needle aspiration cytology specimens are frequently utilized for ancillary studies to identify diagnostic and prognostic information. This case highlights diagnostic pitfalls and challenges in diagnosing NUTM1‐rearranged neoplasia on pancreatic cytology.
