Unmanaged forest swamps benefit saproxylic and soil‐inhabiting crane fly communities
Species richness of both saproxylic and soil‐inhabiting crane flies was consistently higher in unmanaged forests across all habitat types. Soil‐inhabiting species thrived in swamps and ditches, while saproxylic richness was linked to low light and high soil moisture, independent of habitat type.

Supersonic Gas Streams Enhance the Formation of Massive Black Holes in the Early Universe [PDF]
The origin of super-massive black holes in the early universe remains poorly understood.Gravitational collapse of a massive primordial gas cloud is a promising initial process, but theoretical studies have difficulty growing the black hole fast enough. We ...

Strategies achieving high‐energy‐density aqueous zinc‐ion batteries are summarized and analyzed from both their separate advancements and the integrated effectiveness in this review. Then, perspectives are given for valuable guidance for further development of high‐energy‐density aqueous zinc‐ion batteries.

Quantum-mechanical Suppression of Accretion by Primordial Black Holes
The Schwarzschild radii of primordial black holes (PBHs) in the mass range of 6 × 10 ^14 –4 × 10 ^19 g match the sizes of nuclei to atoms. I discuss the resulting quantum-mechanical suppression in the accretion of matter by PBHs in dense astrophysical ...

Universal threshold for primordial black hole formation [PDF]
In this letter, we argue and show numerically that the threshold to form primordial black holes from an initial spherically symmetric perturbation is, to an excellent approximation, universal, whenever given in terms of the compaction function averaged ...

Constraining the primordial black hole scenario with Bayesian inference and machine learning: The GWTC-2 gravitational wave catalog [PDF]
Primordial black holes (PBHs) might be formed in the early Universe and could comprise at least a fraction of the dark matter. Using the recently released GWTC-2 dataset from the third observing run of the LIGO-Virgo Collaboration, we investigate whether

X-ray and gamma-ray limits on the primordial black hole abundance from Hawking radiation
The non-observation of extragalactic Hawking radiation from primordial black holes of 1016 g sets a conservative strong bound on their cosmological abundance.

On Ellipsoidal Collapse and Primordial Black-Hole Formation
We reinvestigate gravitational ellipsoidal collapse with special focus on its impact on primordial black-hole formation. For a generic model we demonstrate that the abundance and energy density of the produced primordial black holes will be significantly
