Probing first-order electroweak phase transition via primordial black holes in the effective field theory

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2023
We investigate production of primordial black holes from first-order electroweak phase transition in the framework of the nearly aligned Higgs effective field theory, in which non-decoupling quantum effects are properly described.

Primordial black holes from confinement [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2021
A mechanism for the formation of primordial black holes is proposed. Here, heavy quarks of a confining gauge theory produced by de Sitter fluctuations are pushed apart by inflation and get confined after horizon re-entry. The large amount of energy stored in the colour flux tubes connecting the quark pair leads to black-hole formation.

Cosmological black holes are not described by the Thakurta metric: LIGO-Virgo bounds on PBHs remain unchanged

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2021
We show that the physical conditions which induce the Thakurta metric, recently studied by Bœhm et al. in the context of time-dependent black hole masses, correspond to a single accreting compact object in the entire Universe filled with isotropic non ...

Stochastic gravitational-wave background as a tool for investigating multi-channel astrophysical and primordial black-hole mergers [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2021
The formation of merging binary black holes can occur through multiple astrophysical channels such as, e.g., isolated binary evolution and dynamical formation or, alternatively, have a primordial origin.

Revisiting Primordial Black Hole Evolution

open access: yesAxioms, 2020
Primordial black holes (PBHs) are the sensitive probe for physics and cosmology of very early Universe. The observable effect of their existence depends on the PBH mass.

Scalar induced gravitational waves from primordial black hole Poisson fluctuations in f(R) gravity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, 2021
The gravitational potential of a gas of initially randomly distributed primordial black holes (PBH) can induce a stochastic gravitational-wave (GW) background through second-order gravitational effects. This GW background can be abundantly generated in a

On the primordial black hole mass function for broad spectra

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2020
We elaborate on the mass function of primordial black holes in the case in which the power spectrum of the curvature perturbation is broad. For the case of a broad and flat spectrum, we argue that such a mass function is peaked at the smallest primordial

GW200105 and GW200115 are compatible with a scenario of primordial black hole binary coalescences

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2022
Two gravitational wave events, i.e. GW200105 and GW200115, were observed by the Advanced LIGO and Virgo detectors recently. In this work, we show that they can be explained by a scenario of primordial black hole binaries that are formed in the early ...

Primordial black hole dark matter from inflation: The reverse engineering approach [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2022
Constraining the inflationary epoch is one of the aims of modern cosmology. In order to fully exploit current and future small-scale observations, it is necessary to devise tools to directly relate them to the early universes dynamics.
