Signals of merging supermassive black holes in pulsar timing arrays

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
In this work we evaluate whether the gravitational wave background recently observed by a number of different pulsar timing arrays could be due to merging primordial supermassive black hole binaries.

Primordial black holes from conformal Higgs

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
Scale-invariant extensions of the electroweak theory are not only attractive because they can dynamically generate the weak scale, but also due to their role in facilitating supercooled first-order phase transitions.

Contemporary gravitational waves from primordial black holes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Stochastic background of gravitational waves (GW) generated by the interactions between primordial black holes (PBH) in the early universe and by PBH evaporation is considered.

Two Micron‐Size Dark Dimensions

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 73, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract Two extra dimensions of micron scale might simultaneously address the gauge and cosmological hierarchy problems. In this paper various observational bounds in scenarios with one and two large extra dimensions are examined, to see if they are compatible with the micron scale.

Primordial black hole minimum mass

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2006
In this paper we revisit thermodynamic constraints on primordial black hole (PBH) formation in the early universe. Under the assumption that PBH mass is equal to the cosmological horizon mass, one can use the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics to put a lower limit on the PBH mass.

Properties and Dispersal of a Hydrothermal Plume in a Weakly Stratified Under‐Ice Environment

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract The Aurora vent field (82°53.83′N, 6°15.32′W) is located in the weakly stratified Arctic Ocean under perennial ice cover at the western edge of the ultraslow‐spreading Gakkel Ridge, the slowest spreading mid‐ocean ridge on Earth. Here, we report data on the dispersal of the proximal hydrothermal plume in this extreme environment.

Primordial black hole formation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of Black Holes in General Relativity and String Theory — PoS(BHs, GR and Strings), 2009
This work is a review of our main results obtained from general relativistic numerical computations of primordial black-hole formation during the radiation-dominated era of the universe. As initial conditions we consider supra-horizon-scale perturbations of a type which could have come from inflation, with only a growing component and no decaying ...

Primordial black holes as dark matter: interferometric tests of phase transition origin

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We show that primordial black holes — in the observationally allowed mass window with f PBH = 1 — formed from late nucleating patches in a first order phase transition imply upcoming gravitational wave interferometers will see a large stochastic ...

Exploring primordial black holes and gravitational waves with R-symmetric GUT Higgs inflation

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
This study investigates the realization of R-symmetric Higgs inflation within the framework of no-scale-like supergravity, aiming to elucidate the formation of primordial black holes and observable gravitational waves within a class of GUT models.
