Multi-principal-element alloys have been assumed to have the configurational entropy of an ideal solution. Here, the authors use atomistic simulations to show that instead NiCoCr exhibits local chemical order, raising the activation barriers of ...

Summary Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves is investigated through feedforward and recurrent neural networks as well as dynamic mode decomposition. The goal is to predict future ship motion variables based on past data collected on the field, using equation‐free approaches.

The cost as a function of the number of experiments for a non‐symmetric 21×21$$ 21\times 21 $$ system. Four approaches are shown: the proposed stochastic conjugate gradient ILC (SCGILC) method (), deterministic conjugate gradient ILC (), stochastic gradient descent ILC () and deterministic gradient descent ILC ().

Ordered Regular Semigroups with Biggest Associates
We investigate the class BA of ordered regular semigroups in which each element has a biggest associate x† = max {y | xyx = x}. This class properly contains the class PO of principally ordered regular semigroups (in which there exists x⋆ = max {y | xyx ...

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

Neural Network Adaptive Control With Long Short‐Term Memory
ABSTRACT In this study, we propose a novel adaptive control architecture that provides dramatically better transient response performance compared to conventional adaptive control methods. This is accomplished by the synergistic employment of a traditional adaptive neural network (ANN) controller and a long short‐term memory (LSTM) network.

ATTRIBUTES OF IDEAL SOIL SUBSTITUTES: RESULTS OF A SURVEY OF DEMAND SECTORS [PDF]
This paper describes preferences for attributes of ideal soil substitutes reported by industry demand segments, and relates those attributes to willingness to pay for soil substitutes. Regression results on principal components indicate that concern over
