Generic Tropical Varieties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We show that in the constant coefficient case the generic tropical variety of a graded ideal exists. This can be seen as the analogon to the existence of the generic initial ideal in Groebner basis theory.

A CHARACTERIZATION OF BAER-IDEALS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Algebraic Systems, 2014
An ideal I of a ring R is called right Baer-ideal if there exists an idempotent e 2 R such that r(I) = eR. We know that R is quasi-Baer if every ideal of R is a right Baer-ideal, R is n-generalized right quasi-Baer if for each I E R the ideal In is right

Principal Elements of Lattices of Ideals [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1971
The notion of principal element of a commutative multiplicative lattice was introduced by Dilworth. In this note the principal elements of the lattice of ideals of a commutative ring with unity R are characterized as those ideals of R which are finitely generated and locally principal ideals.

Practical challenges in data‐driven interpolation: Dealing with noise, enforcing stability, and computing realizations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary In this contribution, we propose a detailed study of interpolation‐based data‐driven methods that are of relevance in the model reduction and also in the systems and control communities. The data are given by samples of the transfer function of the underlying (unknown) model, that is, we analyze frequency‐response data.

Principal ideals and smooth curves

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 1980
AbstractLet A be the coordinate ring of an affine piece of a smooth curve, V, defined over either R or an algebraically closed field k. We ask which maximal ideals of A are principal. We give a complete determination if V has genus 0 or 1, and give partial results if V has genus >/ 2. We conjecture that if k is algebraically closed of characteristic 0,

Data‐driven performance metrics for neural network learning

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary Effectiveness of data‐driven neural learning in terms of both local mimima trapping and convergence rate is addressed. Such issues are investigated in a case study involving the training of one‐hidden‐layer feedforward neural networks with the extended Kalman filter, which reduces the search for the optimal network parameters to a state ...

Computation of relative integral bases for algebraic number fields

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1988
At first we are given conditions for existence of relative integral bases for extension (K;k)=n. Then we will construct relative integral bases for extensions OK6(−36)/Ok2(−3), OK6(−36)/Ok3(−33), OK6(−36)/Z.

Principal Intuitionistic Fuzzy Ideals and Filters on a Lattice

open access: yesDiscussiones Mathematicae - General Algebra and Applications, 2020
In this paper, we generalize the notion of principal ideal (resp. filter) on a lattice to the setting of intuitionistic fuzzy sets and investigate their various characterizations and properties.

An algorithm for the principal ideal problem in indefinite quaternion algebras [PDF]

open access: yesLMS J. Comput. Math., 2014
Deciding whether an ideal of a number field is principal and finding a generator is a fundamental problem with many applications in computational number theory.
