Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

On weakly S-prime ideals of commutative rings

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2021
Let R be a commutative ring with identity and S be a multiplicative subset of R. In this paper, we introduce the concept of weakly S-prime ideals which is a generalization of weakly prime ideals. Let P be an ideal of R disjoint with S. We say that P is a

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Insights Into Principal Ideal Rings and Their Hereditary Properties

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics
In this paper, we investigate principal ideal rings (PIRs). Specifically, we prove that every local PIR is either a 2-strongly Gorenstein semisimple ring or a discrete valuation ring, which leads to the establishment of the Gorenstein hereditary property

Similarity and commutators of matrices over principal ideal rings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We prove that if is a principal ideal ring and is a matrix with trace zero, then is a commutator, that is, for some . This generalises the corresponding result over fields due to Albert and Muckenhoupt, as well as that over due to Laffey and Reams, and ...

The stable set of associated prime ideals of a squarefree principal Borel ideal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
It is shown that a squarefree principal Borel ideal satisfies the persistence property for the associated prime ideals. For the graded maximal ideal we compute the index of stability with respect to squarefree principal Borel ideals and determine their ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Algebraic realization of chain maps in differential graded algebras over a principal ideal domain

open access: yesExtracta Mathematicae
Let R be a principal ideal domain, and let (T (V ), ∂) and (T (W ), δ) be two free differential graded R-algebras. Let (V, d) and (W, d0 ) denote the chain complexes of the indecomposables of (T (V ), ∂) and (T (W ), δ), respectively.

Ingredient classification according to the digestible amino acid profile: an exploratory analysis

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Poultry Science, 2005
This study aimed: 1) to classify ingredients according to the digestible amino acid (AA) profile; 2) to determine ingredients with AA profile closer to the ideal for broiler chickens; and 3) to compare digestible AA profiles from simulated diets with the
