EQUATIONS OF PRINCIPAL TYPE WITHOUT SOLUTION
Russian Mathematical Surveys, 1974In this paper we give necessary conditions for the local solubility of linear differential and pseudodifferential equations with smooth coefficients. Our results generalize those of H. Lewi, Hormander, Nirenberg, Treves, Egorov, and others, described in the survey paper [16] (see also [17], [18]).

Dilemmas and solutions regarding principal evaluation
Peabody Journal of Education, 1990School reform embraced the American psyche in the 1980s, and waves of initiatives emerged to revitalize and improve a system perceived as not meeting the country's needs (Murphy, 1990; Plank & Ginsberg, 1990). Today, ideas such as school choice, for-profit schools, site-based management, participatory decision-making, teacher empowerment, school ...

Principal Solutions for Liénard’s Equation
SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1981It is found that for a certain class of nonlinear ordinary differential equations there exists a one-parameter family of solutions which display lower order growth at infinity than the remaining solutions. This result is found with the help of an auxiliary equation which plays a role similar to that of the Riccati equation in the linear case.

Ore Principal Subresultant Coefficients in Solutions
Applicable Algebra in Engineering, Communication and Computing, 2001The author gives a new expression for the principal subresultant coefficient \(\text{psc}_k(A,B)\) of two Ore polynomials \(A\), \(B\) in terms of ``solutions'' of \(A\) and \(B\). This is another approach to a result of \textit{Z. Li} [in Proc. Int. Symp. Symb.

Principal Solutions of Difference Equations
American Journal of Mathematics, 1947One of the central problems in the theory of difference equations is that of eradicating, as far as possible, the arbitrary elements in the manifold of solutions.2 In brief, a difference equation has so many solutions, (in those cases where the complete manifold has been determined, involving one or more arbitrary periodic functions), that the property

Embedded hardware solution for principal component analysis
Proceedings of 2011 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing, 2011Over the past few years, the realm of portable and embedded computing has expanded to include a wide variety of applications on handheld devices. However, these devices have stringent area and power requirements. Coupled with increasing pressure to decrease cost and shorten time to market, the design constraints of these devices pose a serious ...

The Principal/Agent Problem—Numerical Solutions
1988The principal/agent paradigm provides a useful vehicle for examining a wide range of contractual relationships. Recent theoretical advances in the modeling of this relationship have enriched our understanding of the interplay between risk sharing and incentives in the design of optimal contracts.

Localized principal components of natural images-an analytic solution
Network: Computation in Neural Systems, 1994Summary: The structure of receptive fields in the visual cortex is believed to be shaped by unsupervised learning. A simple variant of unsupervised learning is the extraction of principal components. We derive analytically the form of the principal components of natural images.
