Simulation of Printed Circuit-board Manufacturing

Journal of the Operational Research Society, 1989
The paper describes a simulation model that was built to predict the production output of a printed circuit-board manufacturer. Such a prediction with traditional forecasting tools is difficult owing to varying lot sizes, designs, processing time, product mix, machining capacity and fluctuating work-force.

Optical testing of printed circuit boards

International Test Conference 1988 Proceeding@m_New Frontiers in Testing, 2003
An optical technique is described to test large printed circuit boards (PCBs) supporting surface-mounted components. This testing process is based on the change of the light polarization inside an electrooptic material plate. An anisotropic elastomer conductor particular to each type of PCB connects it to the electrooptical material.

Shielded Tracks on a Printed Circuit Board

Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, 2005
Fully shielded tracks can be embedded in multilayer printed circuit boards by a novel manufacturing technique. The paper presents a numerical analysis of the influence of dimension tolerances on the characteristic impedance. For partly shielded tracks the coupling between tracks and the environment is studied as well.

Slow light on a printed circuit board

Optics Letters, 2011
Slow-light effects induced by stimulated Raman scattering in polymer waveguides on a printed circuit board are shown to enable a widely tunable delay of broadband optical signals, suggesting an advantageous platform for optical information processing and ultrafast optical waveform transformation.

Layer assignment for printed circuit boards and integrated circuits

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1992
The layer assignment problem arises in printed circuit board (PCB) and integrated circuit (IC) design. It involves the assignment of interconnect wiring to various planes of a PCB or to various layers of interconnect wires in an IC. This paper reviews basic techniques for layer assignment in both PCBs and ICs.

Fast printed circuit board routing

24th ACM/IEEE conference proceedings on Design automation conference - DAC '87, 1987
This paper describes the algorithms in a printed circuit board router used for fully automatic routing of high-density circuit boards. Completely automatic routing and running times of a few minutes have resulted from a new data structure for efficient representation of the routing grid, quick searches for optimal solutions, and generalizations of Lee ...

Automatic Inspection System for Printed Circuit Boards

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 1983
The purpose of this correspondence is to present problems and methods in automating visual inspection of printed circuit boards (PCB's). Vertical and diagonal illumination are useful in detecting PCB patterns correctly. An algorithm comparing local features of the patterns to be inspected with those of the pattern to be referenced is proposed.

Printed Circuit Boards

1971
Printed wiring performs a specific function and can, therefore, contribute to the overall success or failure of apparatus in service as can any other component. Would-be users of this form of interconnection formerly had serious misgivings as to its reliability compared with traditional wiring practice which in general enjoyed a good reputation. As the
