Experimental investigation of heat transfer coefficient of mini-channel PCHE (printed circuit heat exchanger)

Cryogenics, 2018
Abstract Heat transfer coefficient of a mini-channel printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) with counter-flow configuration is investigated. The PCHE used in the experiments is two layered (10 channels per layer) and has the hydraulic diameter of 1.83 mm. Experiments are conducted under various cryogenic heat transfer conditions: single-phase, boiling

Development of highly effective cryogenic printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) with low axial conduction

Cryogenics, 2012
Abstract This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of the thermal and hydraulic performance of a printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) for use in the cryogenic temperature region. Compact PCHEs with multiple corrugated, longitudinal flow microchannels were fabricated using chemical etching and diffusion bonding to evaluate ...

Effects of wavy channel configurations on thermal-hydraulic characteristics of Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE)

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2018
Abstract Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE) is a widely chosen plate type compact heat exchanger for high pressure applications. The present work mainly focuses on two high pressure applications; firstly, Helium Cooling System (HCS) of Test Blanket Module (TBM) in International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) and secondly, Intermediate ...

Flow Characteristics of Nitrogen (N2) in Micro-Channels of Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE)

Volume 8B: Heat Transfer and Thermal Engineering, 2018
Experiment and simulation studies were performed to investigate the flow characteristics of pressure-driven Nitrogen flow in the micro-channels of Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE). The core of the PCHE was made using diffusion bonding method with ten stainless steel 316L plates, where hemispherical 1 mm in diameter channels were chemically etched.

Elongating axial conduction path design to enhance performance of cryogeinc compact pche (printed circuit heat exchanger)

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2012
PCHE (Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger) is one of the promising cryogenic compact heat exchangers due to its compactness, high NTU and robustness. The essential procedure for fabricating PCHE is chemical etching and diffusion bonding. These technologies can create sufficiently large heat transfer area for a heat exchanger with numerous micro channels ...
