ZeoPTES: Zeotropic Pumped Thermal Energy Storage with an Ammonia–Water Mixture as Working Fluid

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 9, Issue 11, November 2021., 2021
An innovative pumped thermal energy storage system, which uses a mixture of ammonia and water as working fluid, is developed for electrical energy storage. The mixture exhibits a temperature glide during boiling and evaporation which allows use of sensible thermal storage tanks.

Performance evaluation of a printed circuit heat exchanger with a novel two-way corrugated channel

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2023
A numerical and experimental study is conducted to improve the hydrothermal performance of a printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) using innovative channels. Sinusoidal two-way corrugated channels are proposed to modify the PCHE design.

Comparative Study on Thermos‐Hydraulic Performance of Different Cross Section Shapes of Microchannels with Supercritical CO2 Fluid

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
The influence of the cross section shape of microchannels on the thermos‐hydraulic performance of the supercritical CO2 fluid is an important issue in the design of industrial compact heat exchangers, but few studies have been conducted about this issue.

Dual Loop Line-Focusing Solar Power Plants with Supercritical Brayton Power cycles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Most of the deployed commercial line-focusing solar power plants with Parabolic Troughs (PTC) or Linear Fresnel (LF) solar collectors and Rankine power cycles use a Single Loop Solar Field (SF), Configuration 1 illustrated in Fig.

Process intensification for post combustion CO₂ capture with chemical absorption: a critical review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The concentration of CO₂ in the atmosphere is increasing rapidly. CO₂ emissions may have an impact on global climate change. Effective CO₂ emission abatement strategies such as carbon capture and storage (CCS) are required to combat this trend.

Mechanical Integrity Assessment of Two-Side Etched Type Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger with Additional Elliptical Channel

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Printed circuit heat exchangers (PCHEs) are often subject to high pressure and temperature difference between the hot and cold channels which may cause a mechanical integrity problem.

Parametric Study on Thermo-Hydraulic Performance of NACA Airfoil Fin PCHEs Channels

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In this work, a discontinuous airfoil fin printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) was used as a recuperator in a micro gas turbine system. The effects of the airfoil fin geometry parameters (arc height, maximum arc height position, and airfoil thickness ...

A new channel structure for strengthening heat transfer of SCO2 printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE): variable sectional semicircular channel

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2023
In this paper, a mathematical and physical model is established to study the convective heat transfer performance of supercritical carbon dioxide (SCO2) in three kinds of horizontal semicircular channels (uniform cross-sectional channel, diverging and converging channels).
