Stability Aspects of UV-Curable Prints on Pressure-Sensitive Labels Facestock Made from Agro-Industrial By-Products

open access: yesMacromol, 2023
During its life cycle, packaging comes into contact with various substances and even those it protects. Thus, for example, oil, water, and alcohol, if spilled on the packaging, can damage its functionality.

Analysis of ink penetration depth inside substrates for secondary packaging

open access: yesMokslo Taikomieji Tyrimai
Today, the packaging industry is experiencing growth, which in turn leads to an increased amount of packaging waste. To reduce packaging waste, it is necessary to reduce the use of packaging and combine primary and secondary packaging into one.

Nanoscale platinum printing on insulating substrates

open access: yesNanotechnology, 2013
The deposition of noble metals on soft and/or flexible substrates is vital for several emerging applications including flexible electronics and the fabrication of soft bionic implants. In this paper, we describe a new strategy for the deposition of platinum electrodes on a range of materials, including insulators and flexible polymers.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Quality of electrophotographic prints on foil substrates

open access: yesJournal of Graphic Engineering and Design, 2011
Electrophotographic printing uses many types of substrates, our study focuses on plastic substrates. Six types of regular and self-adhesive foil substrates were chosen to be printed using two electrophotographic presses: Xerox Colour 1000 Press and Canon imagePress C7000VP.
