This article investigates the dependence of the properties on the manufacturing orientation in the form of the inclination angle to the build plate of LPBF‐fabricated NiTi rods with a diameter of 150–220 µm. Metallographic, chemical, thermal, and mechanical characterization show behavior under identical manufacturing conditions that ranges from ...

Abstract Suppressing hydrogen embrittlement in martensitic steels is a longstanding challenge. Here, we studied the effects of prior austenite grain (PAG) shape and size with a 0.25C steel utilising novel in situ H-charging, constant-displacement Tuning-fork testing (TFT) and H-permeation tests.

HEA interlayers offer a versatile route for joining high‐performance structural materials. Their compositional and structural design regulates interfacial reactions, suppresses brittle IMCs, and improves metallurgical bonding. Sandwich interlayers further integrate defect healing with precipitation strengthening, enabling improved strength–ductility ...

Correlative microscopy for quantification of prior austenite grain size in AF9628 steel
Abstract The characterization of prior austenite grain size is important for an understanding of the microstructure-property relationships in steels. In this study, the prior austenite grain boundaries (PAGBs) were delineated in a low alloy high performance steel, AF9628, with two different methods: (i) conventional approach via etching, followed by ...

A Novel Approach to Estimate the Transition Temperature via Dynamic Nanoindentation
A new dynamic nanoindentation‐based method was developed that uses the stiffness ratio as an indicator of the elastic–plastic deformation contributions at different temperatures. The approach successfully identified transition temperatures in ferritic steel and distinguished them from continuously ductile austenitic steel.

It is well known that the prior austenite grain (PAG) microstructure of steels has a significant impact on their microstructure evolution and mechanical properties. Many PAG measuring techniques have been developed over many decades, with the effectiveness of each varying alloy-to-alloy. Some of the more common techniques, specifically for bainitic and
