Heuristic Algorithm for Priority Traffic Signal Control

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2011
A heuristic algorithm is presented for traffic signal control with simultaneous multiple priority requests at isolated intersections in the context of vehicle-to-infrastructure communications being available on priority vehicles, such as emergency vehicles and transit buses.

Priority-Index Based Multi-Priority Relief Logistics Scheduling with Greedy Heuristic Search

2018 5th International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies for Disaster Management (ICT-DM), 2018
Spontaneous response after any kind of disaster is essential to rescue victims at the disaster-affected regions. Efficient and effective relief logistics scheduling is crucial to reduce the disaster impact on the people in the affected areas. Such scheduling plan remains challenging in the field of relief logistics and related study areas because of ...

Heuristic algorithms for priority assignment in flow shops

1998 IEEE International Performance, Computing and Communications Conference. Proceedings (Cat. No.98CH36191), 2002
An end to end approach for scheduling hard real time periodic transactions in a multiprocessor or distributed system is considered. Each transaction consists of a chain of tasks, where each task is allocated to a processor based on its resource requirements.

Examining the Priority Heuristic in Conditions of Resource Need Levels

Psychological Reports, 2017
Within the domain of risky decision making, there are a number of predictive models which are consistent with the hypothesis that human minds are molded for specific behavioral patterns based on environmental cues. Two models are the priority heuristic and risk sensitive foraging.

Exploration Priority Based Heuristic Approach to UAV path planning

2013 IEEE RO-MAN, 2013
This paper presents a 3D online path planning algorithm for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) equipped with limited range sensors and computational resources in unknown cluttered environments. Even though quadrotor UAVs are considered to be a promising technology for surveillance purposes in indoor environments and for close observation in outdoor urban ...

Cooperative Multi-Robot Path Planning by Heuristic Priority Adjustment

2006 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2006
In this paper, a new algorithm for cooperative path planning in a multi-robot system is introduced. The algorithm is specially designed for a distributed system with a large number of robots, all of which should be able to reach their respective goal positions without blocking each other, even if the environment is heavily constricted by obstacles. The

DPS: dynamic priority scheduling heuristic for heterogeneous computing systems

IEE Proceedings - Computers and Digital Techniques, 1998
Scheduling a parallel program is a crucial step in effectively harnessing the computing power of a heterogeneous computing system. Obtaining a minimum finish time schedule for a set of precedence constrained tasks is a well known NP-complete problem.

A Heuristic Framework for Priority Based Nurse Scheduling

2017
Nurse Scheduling Problem is traditionally studied as a multi objective problem which aims at an optimum scheduling of nurse assignment to patients in a hospital. Remote healthcare is involved with providing quality care and medical assistance to patients based on remote monitoring.
