Bio‐Inspired Multifunctional Smart Windows: Surface Wrinkle‐Crack for Dynamic Optical and Wettability Modulations

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a composite material for smart windows, combining W‐doped VO2, SiO2 nanospheres, and PDMS elastomers. The material simultaneously offers energy savings and on‐demand privacy at low temperatures. The research provides an insight to the role of surface wrinkles in enhancing privacy and introduces potential self‐cleaning features ...

Investigating the Potential for Label‐Free Detection of Cell Apoptosis through Terahertz Nano‐Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a label‐free optical method to monitor cells using a terahertz metasurface‐based biosensing platform. The obtained terahertz signal change for the cell‐contained nanoslots before and after external stimulus is analyzed in terms of transmittance and frequency shift, dynamically representing the cell apoptosis process.

Self‐Detecting Mid‐Infrared Dual‐Comb Spectroscopy Based on High‐Speed Injection‐Locked Quantum Cascade Lasers

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
A compact self‐detecting dual‐comb spectroscopy (DCS) system based on dispersion‐engineered, high‐speed packaged quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) at λ≈4.6 μm under coherent injection locking is demonstrated. Broad multiheterodyne comb signal with reduced tooth linewidths by orders of magnitude is recorded.

Microwave Monitoring by Compact Carbon Nanotube Photo‐Thermoelectric Sensors Beyond the Diffraction Limit Toward Ultrabroadband Non‐Destructive Inspections

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
This work overcomes long‐standing crucial technical difficulties in miniaturizing micro‐wave detectors, caused by the longer‐wavelength diffraction limit, with carbon nanotube (CNT) film photo‐thermoelectric sensors. The CNT film sensor exhibits sensitive micro‐wave detection operations with signal‐to‐noise ratios over 1400 at compact device sizes ...
