From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Representing Probability Measures using Probabilistic Processes [PDF]
In the Type-2 Theory of Effectivity, one considers representations of topological spaces in which infinite words are used as "names" for the elements they represent.

Risk-Based Management of Transmission Lines Enhanced With the Dynamic Thermal Rating System
This paper presents a risk-based management framework for transmission lines equipped with a dynamic thermal rating system. In this framework, future wind speed values required for calculating conductor temperature are forecasted using the auto ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

The Epistemic Uncertainty Gradient in Spaces of Random Projections
This work presents a novel approach to handling epistemic uncertainty estimates with motivation from Bayesian linear regression. We propose treating the model-dependent variance in the predictive distribution—commonly associated with epistemic ...

Probabilistic Identification of Seismic Response Mechanism in a Class of Similar Arch Dams
Different numerical models have been proposed for seismic analysis of concrete dams by taking into account the nonlinear behavior of concrete and joints; interaction between the dam, foundation, and reservoir; and other seismic hazard considerations ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Assume-guarantee verification for probabilistic systems [PDF]
We present a compositional verification technique for systems that exhibit both probabilistic and nondeterministic behaviour. We adopt an assume- guarantee approach to verification, where both the assumptions made about system components and the ...

Uncertainty in ground datasets often stems from spatial variability of soil parameters and changing groundwater regimes. In urban settings and where engineering ground interventions need to have minimum and well-anticipated ground movements, uncertainty ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
