COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Probabilistic Eigenvalue Shaping for Nonlinear Fourier Transform Transmission [PDF]
We consider a nonlinear Fourier transform (NFT)-based transmission scheme, where data is embedded into the imaginary part of the nonlinear discrete spectrum. Inspired by probabilistic amplitude shaping, we propose a probabilistic eigenvalue shaping (PES)

Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Ultra-Sparse Non-Binary LDPC Codes for Probabilistic Amplitude Shaping
This work shows how non-binary low-density parity-check codes over GF($2^p$) can be combined with probabilistic amplitude shaping (PAS) (B\"ocherer, et al., 2015), which combines forward-error correction with non-uniform signaling for power-efficient ...

A Journey from Improper Gaussian Signaling to Asymmetric Signaling
The deviation of continuous and discrete complex random variables from the traditional proper and symmetric assumption to a generalized improper and asymmetric characterization (accounting correlation between a random entity and its complex conjugate ...

Joint Design of Probabilistic Constellation Shaping and Precoding for Multi-user VLC Systems [PDF]
This paper proposes a joint design of probabilistic constellation shaping (PCS) and precoding to enhance the sum-rate performance of multi-user visible light communications (VLC) broadcast channels subject to signal amplitude constraint.

dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Deep Learning of Geometric Constellation Shaping including Fiber Nonlinearities [PDF]
A new geometric shaping method is proposed, leveraging unsupervised machine learning to optimize the constellation design. The learned constellation mitigates nonlinear effects with gains up to 0.13 bit/4D when trained with a simplified fiber channel ...
