Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

A review of methods for capacity identification in Choquet integral based multi-attribute utility theory: Applications of the Kappalab R package [PDF]

open access: yes
The application of multi-attribute utility theory whose aggregation process is based on the Choquet integral requires the prior identification of a capacity. The main approaches to capacity identification proposed in the literature are reviewed and their

Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Game semantics for probabilistic modal μ-calculi [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The probabilistic (or quantitative) modal μ-calculus is a fixed-point logic designed for expressing properties of probabilistic labeled transition systems (PLTS’s).

Pattern classification via unsupervised learners [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider classification problems in a variant of the Probably Approximately Correct (PAC)-learning framework, in which an unsupervised learner creates a discriminant function over each class and observations are labeled by the learner returning the ...

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Probabilistic Schwarzian Field Theory

open access: yes
In this thesis we use methods of stochastic analysis to study a quantum field theory called Schwarzian Theory, which emerged in the studies of two dimensional quantum gravity, black holes, and AdS/CFT correspondence. It is believed that Schwarzian Theory

Quantum Implementation of Non-Positive-Operator-Valued Measurements in General Probabilistic Theories by Post-Selected POVMs

open access: yes
It is important problem to clarify the class of implementable quantum measurements from both fundamental and applicable viewpoints. Positive-Operator-Valued Measure (POVM) measurements are implementable by the indirect measurement methods, and the class is the largest class determined by the mathematical structure of Hilbert space.
