Are Subjective Probabilities Probabilities?
1974While it certainly has proved expedient to describe people’s behavior in terms of probabilities, it is not clear whether, to what extent, or under what conditions, it is admissable to identify actual behavior with some reasonably well-fitting probabilistic description of it. What the authors call the confusion problem arises where such admissibility is

Conditional Choice Probabilities and the Estimation of Dynamic Models
, 1993This paper develops a new method for estimating the structural parameters of dynamic programming problems in which choices are discrete. The method reduces the computational burden of estimating such models. We show the valuation functions characterizing

On Indeterminate Probabilities
The Journal of Philosophy, 1974Some men disclaim certainty about anything. I am certain that they deceive themselves. Be that as it may, only the arrogant and foolish maintain that they are certain about everything. It is appropriate, therefore, to consider how judgments of uncertainty discriminate between hypotheses with respect to grades of uncertainty, probability, belief, or ...

Probability and Probability Distributions
1972In Chapter 1 we showed that the science of statistics is concerned with the interpretation of experimental results from random systems. One of the most important tools used in the development of the subject is a branch of mathematics called the Theory of Probability.

X-Ray Fluorescence Yields, Auger, and Coster-Kronig Transition Probabilities
, 1972The present status of the field of fluorescence yields, radiationless (Auger and Coster-Kronig) and radiative transition probabilities is summarized. Tables of experimental and theoretical results are included, and tables of "best values" of important ...

Quantum probabilities, Kolmogorov probabilities, and informational probabilities
International Journal of Theoretical Physics, 1994The relations between quantum probabilities, Kolmogorov probabilities, and informational probabilities are studied against the background offered by the concept of a quantum mechanical probability tree built in previous work. It is shown that the quantum mechanical transformation theory goes beyond the Kolmogorov concept of probabilities.

The Estimation of Choice Probabilities from Choice Based Samples
, 1977Ti-H CONCERN of this paper is the estimation of the parameters of a probabilistic choice model when choices rather than decision makers are sampled. Existing estimation methods presuppose an exogeneous sampling process, that is one in which a sequence of

Probability and Probability Distributions
2014The concept of probability is relevant to experiments that have some uncertain outcomes. These are the situations in which, despite every effort to maintain fixed conditions, some variation of the result in repeated trials of the experiment is unavoidable.

Numerical Computation of Multivariate Normal Probabilities
, 1992The numerical computation of a multivariate normal probability is often a difficult problem. This article describes a transformation that simplifies the problem and places it into a form that allows efficient calculation using standard numerical multiple
