On Estimation of a Functional of a Probability Density Function [PDF]
The problem of estimating the integral of the square of a probability density function is considered, It is shown that under some regularity conditions the kernel estimate of this functional is asymptotically normally distributed. An expression for the smoothing parameter that minimizes the mean square error of the estimate is derived.

Probability density functions of soft information
IEEE Communications Letters, 2002It is well known that soft decoding algorithms are based on the use of reliability measures for binary and nonbinary symbols. We consider an analytical estimation of the distributions of reliability measures after soft decoding of block and convolutional codes or intersymbol interference (ISI) channels.

A type theory for probability density functions
Proceedings of the 39th annual ACM SIGPLAN-SIGACT symposium on Principles of programming languages, 2012There has been great interest in creating probabilistic programming languages to simplify the coding of statistical tasks; however, there still does not exist a formal language that simultaneously provides (1) continuous probability distributions, (2) the ability to naturally express custom probabilistic models, and (3) probability density functions ...

Calibration of Probability Density Function
2019The capability performance index (Cpk) is often used to measure the capability of the production process and to predict yield. However, this Cpk is only defined for the Gaussian distribution. At NXP Semiconductors an on-chip calibration technique is frequently used to reduce the effect of process variations.

Estimation of probability densities by empirical density functions†
International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology, 1978The empirical density function, a simple modification and improvement of the usual histogram, is defined and its properties are studied. An analysis is presented which enables the interval width to be chosen. The estimators are modified for the important practical case of bounded random variables. Finally, the problems of writing a programme to compute
