Joint Probability Mass Function Estimation From Asynchronous Samples

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2013
A common approach to study the relationship between different signals is to model them as random processes and estimate their joint probability distribution from the observed data. When synchronous samples of the random processes are available, then the empirical distribution gives a reliable estimate.

Finite-order universal portfolios generated by probability mass functions

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2015
It is shown that the finite-order universal portfolios generated by independent discrete random variables are constant rebalanced portfolios. The case where the universal portfolios are generated by the moments of the joint Dirichlet distribution is studied. The performance of the low-order Dirichlet universal portfolios on some stock-price data set is

Probability Mass Functions for de Bruijn Weight Classes

2006 IEEE Aerospace Conference, 2006
Order n de Bruijn sequences are the period 2/sup n/ binary sequences from n-stage feedback shift registers. The de Bruijn sequences have good randomness and complexity properties. The number of de Bruijn sequences in a weight class of the order n generating functions is unknown for all but the smallest n.

Inverse \(Z\) transform for probability mass functions

2000
Here numerical inversion of one sided \(Z\) transform is considered. The approximate analytical form is obtained by resorting to maximum entropy principle so that the resulting approximating mass function satisfies the required probabilistic property of positivity. Some results concerning existence and convergence are reviewed.

Analysis of real-time systems using convolution of probability mass function

Proceedings of 2012 IEEE 17th International Conference on Emerging Technologies & Factory Automation (ETFA 2012), 2012
The article refers to real-time systems, especially being used in industry as IT systems with time constraints. A typical analysis of such systems is based generally on the maximum values, which can be useful to determine the time characteristic in worst cases of system run.
