Optimal Arrangement of Missile Defense Systems Considering Kill Probability

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2020
This paper proposes an optimal arrangement framework of ballistic missile defense systems, such as a launcher and radar to maximize the survivability of protected assets. In order to solve the optimization problem through a probabilistic approach, we derive a single shot kill probability (SSKP) model based on engagement geometries, trajectory ...

Estimates of the Kill Probability in Target Area Family Shelters

JAMA, 1962
To compare the safety of underground shelters versus basement fallout shelters within target areas, the kill probability from nuclear weapons has been analyzed. This was estimated by relating the calculated lethal radii for various weapon yields and the distance from the target point to a current ICBM aiming error.

Study on the Simulation Model of Kill Probability of Multiple Shots

2015 IEEE/ACM 19th International Symposium on Distributed Simulation and Real Time Applications (DS-RT), 2015
First of all, the technological framework of the model for calculating the kill probability of multiple shots is established, followed by the corresponding calculation equations relating to two cases of both shooting errors and shooting index. For getting rid of the difficulties facing the calculation of kill probability of multiple shots, an ...

A Calculation Method of Kill Probability for Air-to-Air Missile

2012 Fifth International Symposium on Computational Intelligence and Design, 2012
Target kill probability is one of the most important tactical and technical index. Its calculation result is attended while the air-to-air missile is finalized the design. This paper is based of engineering such as development, experimentation and campaign.

Damage accumulation and probability of kill for gun and target engagements

Naval Research Logistics (NRL), 2018
AbstractDetermination of the gunfire probability of kill against a target requires two parameters to be taken into consideration: the likelihood of hitting the target (susceptibility) and the conditional probability of kill given a hit (vulnerability).

Methods to quantify the detection probability of killing defects

IEEE Transactions on Semiconductor Manufacturing, 2005
Two methods are presented to quantify the killing defect detection probability, or capture rate, of inline defect inspections. The first method uses yield impact and kill ratio of defects above a given size. By comparing the theoretical, critical-area based dependence between the yield impact and the kill ratio of defects above a given size, with the ...

The probabilities of one- and multi-track events for modeling radiation-induced cell kill

Radiation and Environmental Biophysics, 2017
In view of the clinical importance of hypofractionated radiotherapy, track models which are based on multi-hit events are currently reinvestigated. These models are often criticized, because it is believed that the probability of multi-track hits is negligible. In this work, the probabilities for one- and multi-track events are determined for different

Applied mathematical modeling for calculating the probability of the cell killing per hit in the human lung

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2011
The calculating the probability of the cell killing per hit, from radon progeny, requires the development of morphometric model of the human airway system. This study is focused on the different modeling concept. For example, several morphometric lung models have been published which differ in terms of airway structure and lung volume, there by ...
