Intraoperative Probes and Imaging Probes
European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, 1999Intraoperative probes have been employed to assist in the detection and removal of tumors for more than 50 years. For a period of about 40 years, essentially every detector type that could be miniaturized had been tested or at least suggested for use as an intraoperative probe.

Probe generation for active probing
International Journal of Network Management, 2018SummaryActive probing is a widely adopted approach for developing effective solutions for network monitoring and diagnosing. However, the use of probing techniques incurs costs in terms of additional network traffic. Furthermore, probing stations are required to be configured and maintained in the network for sending out probes.

We introduce evaluation probes for conducting emic, experiential evaluation of urban technologies "in the wild" without direct researcher presence. We commence with a thorough discussion and analysis of the original cultural probes, used by Gaver, Dunne and Pacenti to gain design inspiration, and their subsequent variations.

Periodontal Probing: Probe Tip Diameter
Journal of Periodontology, 2000Background: Periodontal probing is one of the most common methods used in diagnosing periodontal disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the importance of the diameter of periodontal probing tips in diagnosing and evaluating periodontal disease.

Probe tine diameter and probing depth
Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 1992Abstract The aim of this study was to assess the effect of difference in tine diameter on probing pocket depth measurement. 2 sets of tines with Williams markings at 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10 mm, and with a “round” tip, diameter 0.5 mm, were compared. One set was described as parallel‐sided, the other as tapered.

Probing With and Into Fingerprints
Journal of Neurophysiology, 2010A recent report by Scheibert et al. highlights the role of fingerprints in enhancing tactile sensitivity. By scanning a surface with a biometric force sensor they demonstrate the dominance of the frequencies that fall within the optimal sensitivity range of Pacinian afferents.

Nature Chemical Biology, 2015
Epigenetic chemical probes are having a strong impact in biological discovery and target validation. Systematic coverage of emerging epigenetic target classes with these potent, selective, cell-active chemical tools will profoundly influence understanding of the human biology and pathology of chromatin-templated mechanisms.

This paper describes a new digital user study tool called Mobile Probes. Mobile Probes arose from a need to develop contextual and dynamic self-documenting tools for studying people's actions in mobile contexts. The technology used in the pilot study was based on dual band mobile phones with GPRS connections and an external accessory digital camera.

Nanotechnology, 2009
In nanotechnology, it is the unique properties arising from nanometre-scale structures that lead not only to their technological importance but also to a better understanding of the underlying science. Over the last twenty years, material properties at the nanoscale have been dominated by the properties of carbon in the form of the C60 molecule ...
