Probabilistic process algebra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Every day we witness the fast development of the hardware and software technology. This, of course, is the reason that new and more complex systems controlled by some kind of computational-based devices become an unseparated part of our daily life.

A Topology Based Spatio-Temporal Map Algebra for Big Data Analysis

open access: yesData, 2019
Continental and global datasets based on earth observations or computational models challenge the existing map algebra approaches. The available datasets differ in their spatio-temporal extents and their spatio-temporal granularity, which makes it ...

Overcoming the Nyquist Limit in Molecular Hyperspectral Imaging by Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Explorative spectral acquisition guide automatically selects informative spectral bands to optimize downstream tasks, outperforming full‐spectrum acquisition. The selected hyperspectral data are used for tasks such as unmixing and segmentation. BandOptiNet encodes selection states and outputs optimal bands to guide spectral acquisition. Recent advances

Deep Learning Approaches for Classifying Crack States With Overload and Predicting Fatigue Parameters in a Titanium Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study proposes a deep learning approach to evaluate the fatigue crack behavior in metals under overload conditions. Using digital image correlation to capture the strain near crack tips, convolutional neural networks classify crack states as normal, overload, or recovery, and accurately predict fatigue parameters.

Pre‐Curved Everting Robots With Embedded Steering Intelligence Fabricated by CO2 Laser Welding

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Design and experimental demonstration of a laser welded growing robot for anatomically guided navigation. The robot follows an aortic arch phantom entering the branchiocephalic branch through steering by design. The figure shows the physical phantom setup, CAD defined weld geometry and full robot eversion.

RelaX: A Webbased Execution and Learning Tool for Relational Algebra

open access: yes, 2019
The relational model and especially the relational algebra is the fundament of each relational database system and thus content of almost every database lecture. Even though there exist a few tools allowing to experiment with relational algebra, a common

A Soft Robotic Jellyfish with Decoupled Actuators for Agile 3D Locomotion

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study presents a soft robotic jellyfish featuring a functionally decoupled actuation architecture. By separating propulsion, steering, and vertical regulation into independent modules, the robot overcomes conventional coupled‐motion limitations. Utilizing a passive‐valve‐based differential drag strategy and lateral water jets, it achieves agile 3D

A complete finite prefix for process algebra

open access: yes, 1999
In this paper we show how to use McMillan’s complete finite prefix approach for process algebra. We present the model of component event structures as a semantics for process algebra, and show how to construct a complete finite prefix for this model.

SiOx‐Based Probabilistic Bits Enabling Invertible Logic Gate for Cryptographic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
To enable lightweight hardware encryption and decryption, a Ti/SiOx/Ti threshold switching device is engineered to generate controllable stochastic oscillations. By tuning the input voltage, the device produces a programmable spike probability governed by intrinsic switching dynamics, enabling probabilistic bits that construct an invertible ...

Facets and layers of function for college students in beginning algebra [PDF]

open access: yes
The first mathematics course for approximately 53 percent of U.S. community college students is a developmental algebra course. Many such students appear to be severely debilitated by their previous encounters with mathematics.
