A robust process capability index

Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 1998
The existing process capability indices (PCI's) assume that the distribution of the process being investigated is normal. For non-normal distributions, PCI's become unreliable in that PCI's may indicate the process is capable when in fact it is not. In this paper, we propose a new index which can be applied to any distribution.

A process capability index for discrete processes

Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 2005
Perakis and Xekalaki 2002, A process capability index that is based on the proportion of conformance. Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 72(9), 707–718. introduced a process capability index that is based on the proportion of conformance of the process under study and has several appealing features.

On Developing Optimal Process Capability Index

International Journal of Quality & Reliability Management, 1992
The process capability indices are used to assess the ability of a process to meet the present specification limits. These indices provide an easily understood qualification of a process performance. A fixed value for an ongoing process capability index is generally used. Minimization of statistical process control costs can be achieved by selecting an

A spatial multivariate process capability index

2010 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, 2010
Process capability ultimately decides process quality level. Based on analyzing process capability index (PCI), Process capability may be effectively assured. For the multivariate manufacturing processes, tremendous difficulties are often encountered when one attempts to measure the process capability by directly extending the univariate approach ...
