Improvement of scintigrams by computer processing

Computer processing can improve the quality of scintigrams in several ways. It can increase the accuracy with which the image approximates the activity distribution by reversing degradation. It can selectively enhance normal or abnormal structures of interest. It can optimize the use of the display system presenting the image.

A computer system is modeled by an exponential queueing network with different classes of customers and a general class of service policies. The mean cost per unit time is taken as the loss function. Three lower bounds of the loss function under the whole class of service policies, as well as an upper bound of the minimal loss, are derived.

Computer simulation of sintering processes

A numerical procedure is described for simulating sintering of model systems. Based on earlier work by Nichols for surface diffusion transport, simultaneously acting mechanisms (surface and grainboundary diffusion) are treated without simplifying assumptions concerning the neck geometry developed during sintering.
