Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Experimental Study on Energy Characteristics of a Single Contaminated Bubble near the Wall in Shear Flow

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study experimentally investigates the dynamic behavior and energy conversion characteristics of a single contaminated bubble (deq = 2.49–3.54 mm, Reb = 470–830) rising near a vertical wall (S* = 1.41–2.02) in a linear shear flow (the conditions of ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Deformation investigation of the shell of rotary kiln using terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) measurement

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2019
For the correct operation of the rotary kiln it is necessary to ensure that basic geometric conditions are fulfilled. For regular check the geodetic measurements are used.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of 304 stainless steel joints brazed by using BNi82CrSiB-xCu filler metals

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng
To overcome the drawback of the brittle borides formed in the stainless steel joint brazed using Ni-based filler metals and further improve the mechanical properties of the joint, a small amount of Cu powders are added into the BNi-2 filler metal to ...

Robot welding process control development task [PDF]

open access: yes
The completion of, and improvements made to, the software developed during 1990 for program maintenance on the PC and HEURIKON and transfer to the CYRO, and integration of the Rocketdyne vision software with the CYRO is documented.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Novel methods to monitor the biodegradation of polylactic acid (PLA) by Amycolatopsis orientalis and Amycolatopsis thailandensis

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
Plastics are essential in modern life, but their conventional production is problematic due to environmental pollution and waste management issues. Polylactic acid (PLA) is a widely used bioplastic that is bio-based and biodegradable, making it a key ...

Design optimization of ANN-based pattern recognizer for multivariate quality control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In manufacturing industries, process variation is known to be major source of poor quality. As such, process monitoring and diagnosis is critical towards continuous quality improvement.
