Using the properties of soil to speed up the start-up process, enhance process stability, and improve the methane content and yield of solid-state anaerobic digestion of alkaline-pretreated poplar processing residues

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels, 2015
BackgroundSolid-state anaerobic digestion (SS-AD) was initially adopted for the treatment of municipal solid waste. Recently, SS-AD has been increasingly applied to treat lignocellulosic biomass, such as agricultural and forestry residues.

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

Research Progress on Stability Analysis of Turning Process

open access: yesJournal of Harbin University of Science and Technology, 2019
During the turning process, the instability caused by chatter will cause a very bad influence on the life of the machine tool and the cutting tool, the machining efficiency and the surface quality In order to improve the efficiency and quality of turning

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Stability Analysis of Radial Turning Process for Superalloys

open access: yesManagement Systems in Production Engineering, 2017
Stability detection in machining processes is an essential component for the design of efficient machining processes. Automatic methods are able to determine when instability is happening and prevent possible machine failures.

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

A mechanical perspective on the hymenium of the fungal species Fomes fomentarius: Surprising anisotropic elastic properties across multiple scales

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Characterising the porous structure and mechanical properties of fungal fruiting bodies remains challenging. Here, we report our findings on the elastic properties of the lightweight hymenium of Fomes fomentarius across multiple length scales.

Residual polymer effect on shallow trench Bosch process stability

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
This paper offers a solution to address the unstable shallow trench Bosch process problem by altering several major contributing factors involved in chamber polymer deposition. This approach has been implemented to product lines and has proven to be very

An Investigation of Stochastic Cooling in the Framework of Control Theory

open access: yes, 1996
This report provides a description of unbunched beam stochastic cooling in the framework of control theory. The main interest in the investigation is concentrated on the beam stability in an active cooling system.
