Although biotelemetry studies bring useful information, tagging is a highly invasive procedure. For this reason, we assess if intracoelomic tagging alters survivorship, weight gain and/or reproductive capacity of a neotropical migratory fish.

Role of glucose in enhancing life and potency of Cirrhinus mrigala spermatozoa during cryopreservation [PDF]
Cryopreservation of fish gametes is an emerging technology and breeding with cryopreserved gametes is advancement in fish seed production. Success of cryopreservation is evaluated by the post - thaw motility of the spermatozoa, an for which energy is ...

The effects of endosulfan on P450 1A gene expression, antioxidant enzymes activity and histopathological alterations in liver of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus Borodin, 1987) [PDF]
The effects of 14 days exposure to sublethal concentrations of endosulfan (10 and 40 μg L−1) were investigated in mRNA- P450 1A expression, antioxidant enzymes (SOD and CAT) activity and histopathological alterations of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser ...

Desempeno del sabalo Prochilodus lineatus en policultivo con pacu Piaractus mesopotamicus
In fish farming 30% of the nutrients provided are retained as animal biomass, and the remainder is lost in the sediments. An alternative is to produce in polyculture, to take advantage of space and food. The aim of this work was to compare and evaluate the growth of Prochilodus lineatus (PL) in monoculture, in contrast to polyculture of PL and pacu ...

Population genetic structuring in pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus) across the Paraná-Paraguay basin: evidence from microsatellites [PDF]
The Paraná-Paraguay basin encompasses central western Brazil, northeastern Paraguay, eastern Bolivia and northern Argentina. The Pantanal is a flooded plain with marked dry and rainy seasons that, due to its soil characteristics and low declivity, has a ...

Low‐Effort eDNA Sampling Reveals Fish Community Patterns in a Neotropical River Basin
Low eDNA sampling effort (< 10 sample sites) using a portable on‐site kit with syringe filters and a modest water volume (< 500 mL per site) provided a rapid and robust snapshot of fish biodiversity. Environmental DNA based species richness increases along the upstream‐downstream gradient showing a significant negative correlation with river elevation ...
