Long non‐coding RNAs as therapeutic targets in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and clinical application

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) occupy an abundant fraction of the eukaryotic transcriptome and an emerging area in cancer research. Regulation by lncRNAs is based on their subcellular localization in HNSCC. This cartoon shows the various functions of lncRNAs in HNSCC discussed in this review.

Analysis of the use of e-procurement in the public and private sectors of the UK construction industry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Summary: Eadie et.al (2010a, 2010b) identified 20 advantages in the adoption of e-procurement within a construction organisation. The Glover report (2008) indicated that by the end of 2010 all public sector procurement should be electronic.

Scaling Behavior of Public Procurement Activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Public procurement refers to the purchase by public sector entities, such as government departments or local authorities, of Services, Goods, or Works. It accounts for a significant share of OECD countries' expenditures. However, while governments are expected to execute them as efficiently as possible, there is a lack of methodologies for an adequate ...

Nonlinearity and Domain Switching in a 3D‐Printed Architected Ferroelectric

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
By combining functional properties measurement with in situ 2D X‐ray microdiffraction experiments, it is shown that nonlinear polarization and strain responses of a 3D‐printed architected ferroelectric are driven by localized progression of domain switching, which depends on nonuniform electric‐field distribution as well as evolving stress fields.

Function Design for Improved Competitive Ratio in Online Resource Allocation with Procurement Costs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We study the problem of online resource allocation, where multiple customers arrive sequentially and the seller must irrevocably allocate resources to each incoming customer while also facing a procurement cost for the total allocation. Assuming resource procurement follows an a priori known marginally increasing cost function, the objective is to ...

Magnetic Field‐Assisted Conductive Nerve Guidance Conduit Enabling Peripheral Nerve Regeneration with Wireless Electrical Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a conductive nerve guidance conduit integrated with wireless electrical stimulation through alternating magnetic fields, which induces currents and creates a supportive microenvironment for nerve regeneration. In vivo studies show that this approach significantly enhanced myelin restoration, gastrocnemius muscle regeneration ...
