The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Water Waves Produced by Explosions
Explicit formulas are found for the height of the water waves produced by an arbitrary axially symmetric initial disturbance in water of finite depth. The initial disturbance can be either a distribution of impulse or an elevation or depression of the surface or a combination of these.

Device separates hydrogen from solution in water at ambient temperatures [PDF]
Separator decreases the partial pressure of hydrogen gas dissolved in the water produced by fuel cells containing an alkaline electrolyte. The unit eliminates the hazards associated with the release of hydrogen from water solution when the hydrostatic ...

Hybrid TiO2 Solar Cells Produced from Aerosolized Nanoparticles of Water-Soluble Polythiophene Electron Donor Layer [PDF]
Hybrid solar cells (HSCs) with water soluble polythiophene sodium poly[2-(3-thienyl)-ethyloxy-4-butylsulfonate] (PTEBS) thin films produced using electrospray deposition (ESD) were fabricated, tested, and modeled and compared to devices produced using ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Overview of produced water in oilfield [PDF]
Oil and gas reservoirs can contain water as a reservoir fluid. The water precentage ranges from a few (%) to almost total water saturation. The waters found in the oil and gas reservoirs are genetically related to oil origin and represent mixture of ...

The Influence of Production Chemicals on the Quality of Oilfield Produced Water
The cost of treatment of produced water prior to disposal forms a significant percentage of the total economic impact of pollutants in crude oil production. The treatment of produced water involves the removal of toxic compounds contained in the fluid to
