A social welfare estimation of ride-sharing in China: evidence from transaction data analysis of a large online platform

open access: yesTechnological and Economic Development of Economy, 2022
This paper estimates the social welfare effect of China’s largest online ride-sharing platform. Under the plausible assumption that consumers would change from traditional transportation to online ride-sharing when the marginal benefit of saved time ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Unstructured Bargaining Over an Endogenously Produced Surplus and Fairness Ideals An Experiment [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2013
Fairness considerations are important determinants of behavior in unstructured bargaining situations with equal bargaining power. If the surplus over which the bargaining takes place was created by separate, individual efforts, several entitlement-related fairness ideals might be relevant.

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Factors affecting breeding practices and surplus calf management: Producer perspectives from Atlantic Canada

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Dairy-beef and veal production play an important role in the North American beef supply, relying almost entirely on surplus calves that are marketed at a young age from dairy farms.

Evaluating the Farmer's-Share-of-the-Retail-Dollar Statistic

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, 2009
Conventional wisdom appears to support the thesis that declines in USDA's farmer's share-of-the-retail-dollar (FS) statistics are indicators of low returns to agricultural production.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Rethinking the Geometry of the Demand and Supply Functions [PDF]

open access: yesRomanian Economic Journal, 2019
This paper attempts to revisit the geometry of the demand and supply functions in economic analysis, taking mathematical exigencies into account. Leaning on the fundamental principles that guide the theory of demand and supply, the paper uses the ...

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...
