Properties and encoding aspects of direct product convolutional codes
2012 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory Proceedings, 2012In this paper we investigate the properties of the generator matrices of a new class of convolutional codes, called product convolutional codes, which were previously defined and investigated by the authors. The new codes are constructed using the well-known method of the direct product for combining block codes.

Termination and tailbiting of rate-k/n direct product convolutional codes
2010 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2010In this paper we extend the algorithms for the termination and tailbiting of direct product convolutional codes, that we proposed in a previous paper, to the rate-k/n case. There, the relationship between the direct product encoder state sequence and the parameters of the vertical and horizontal constituent encoders was derived, and, given a generic ...

A necessary and sufficient condition for the subexponentiality of the product convolution
Advances in Applied Probability, 2018Abstract Let X and Y be two independent and nonnegative random variables with corresponding distributions F and G. Denote by H the distribution of the product XY, called the product convolution of F and G. Cline and Samorodnitsky (1994) proposed sufficient conditions for H to be subexponential, given the subexponentiality of F.

Implementation of encoders and decoding performance analysis of direct product convolutional codes
2014 IEEE Latin-America Conference on Communications (LATINCOM), 2014Direct product convolutional codes are the result of a special concatenated scheme based on the well-known method of direct product for combining block codes. The approach taken for its construction is to consider convolutional codes as block codes over the field of rational functions F(D).

Abstract Continuing the axiomatic set-up of the last paper, we now discuss inner products, definite integrals and convolutions of distributions. The concept of the value of a distribution at a point and its generalization to ‘evaluation functionals’ gives the key to a systematic treatment of all irregular operations.
