Large Least Squares Problems Involving Kronecker Products

SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 1994
The authors study the least squares solution of \((A \otimes B) x=t\), where \(A\) and \(B\) are full rank, rectangular matrices, and \(A \otimes B\) is the Kronecker product of \(A\) and \(B\). Equations of this form arise in areas such as digital image and signal processing, photogrammetry, finite elements, and multidimensional approximation.

Customer involvement in product development

Benchmarking: An International Journal, 2019
PurposeBeing innovative and bringing new products to the market fast is important for firms to stay competitive. Customers are important for providing input to product developments in industrial markets. The purpose of this paper is to increase understanding of how firms use Voice of the Customer (VoC) in product development and how VoC can complement ...

Involvement of lipoxygenase products in myometrial contractions

Prostaglandins, 1983
Studies with an in situ preparation of guinea pig uterus suggest the possible involvement of the lipoxygenase pathway of arachidonic acid (AA) metabolism in myometrial contractions. Female guinea pigs were sensitized to ovalbumin (OA) on day one of their estrous cycle.

Norm inequalities involving Hadamard products

Linear and Multilinear Algebra, 2010
Let A, B be square complex matrices of the same order, and let โ—‹ denote the Hadamard product. Xingzhi Zhan conjectured that for any unitarily invariant norm. We prove this conjecture for the cases when โ€–ยทโ€– is the spectral norm, the trace norm or the Frobenius norm. The spectral norm case of our result improves an existing inequality.

Involvement of Gene Products in Bacterial Evolution

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1999
ABSTRACT: Three strategies of different quality contribute in parallel to the natural formation of genetic variants in bacteria: (1) small local alterations of DNA sequences; (2) recombinational reshuffling of segments of the genome; and (3) acquisition of DNA sequences by horizontal gene transfer.

Generating functions involving arbitrary products

2007
We show that the use of operational methods and of multi-index Bessel functions allow the derivation of generating functions, involving the product of an arbitrary number of Laguerre polynomials.
