A Modular Perfusion Bioreactor Platform for Simulating Bone Regeneration and Fracture Healing: Integrating Mechanical Loading and Dual Perfusion for Advanced In Vitro Models

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A modular bioreactor platform was developed in order to replicate bone homeostasis and pathology, thereby integrating mechanical loading, dynamic perfusion, and a 3D‐printed microfluidic chamber. With precise control of environmental parameters and dual perfusion for composite tissue models, the system enhances physiological relevance for studying bone

Economic Insecurity and the Globalization of Production [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Political Science, 2003
A central question in the international and comparative political economy literatures on globalization is whether economic integration increases worker insecurity in advanced economies. Previous research has focused on the role of international trade and has failed to produce convincing evidence that such a link exists.

Ion Valency as a Molecular Switch for Salt‐Resistant Underwater Adhesion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Monovalent K+ ions weaken adhesion by forming K+‐π complexes with weak bridging capacity. In contrast, multivalent cations like Y3+ enhance adhesion by forming stable π‐cation‐π bridging networks, which are resistant to salt and capable of compensating for the loss of native π–π and NH3+‐π interactions.

Budgetary allocation to agriculture in South Africa: an empirical review from 1994 to 2014 [PDF]

open access: yesProblems and Perspectives in Management, 2016
The agricultural sector is no doubt one of the most important sectors in sub-Saharan Africa, considering its prime place as a livelihood source and employer of the vast majority of residents, especially those in rural areas. In South Africa, for instance,

STRESS ON PRODUCTION ECONOMICS [PDF]

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Agricultural Economics, 1963
This article was written at the invitation of the Editor of this journal. In earlier correspondence the point was made that the author had been "having second thoughts on the decline of some departments of agricultural economics which were of a more applied nature" and that "this year will mark a decade since the emergence of Earl Heady's massive tome",

From Pollution to Value: Electrochemical Systems for Transforming Flue Gas into Chemicals and Fuels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review presents a comprehensive overview of the strategies whereby low‐concentration CO2 in flue gas can be directly valorized to value‐added chemicals and fuels. It covers recent progress in integrated CO2 capture and conversion, including amine and bi(carbonate) reduction‐based systems.
