The Production of Functionality by the Elderly: A Household Production Function Approach
SSRN Electronic Journal, 1998This paper extends Becker's model of the household production function of human capital to the production of elderly functionality. In our model, elderly functionality is produced with the direct inputs of assistive devices, personal assistance, and nutritional intake.

Neoclassical economics has always tried to portray wages and profits as mere technical variables. At an aggregate level, this is accomplished by connecting labour and capital to output through a ‘well-behaved’ aggregate production function, with the marginal products of labour and capital equal to the wage rate and profit rate, respectively.

Ray-Homothetic Production Functions
Econometrica, 1977The notion of homotheticity is extended for production correspondences to span many special structures, with properties such as homogeneity, global homotheticity, semihomogeneity, quasi-homogeneity, with a scaling law common to these structures which is also equivalent to linear expansion paths, thereby showing by comparison the generality of the ...

The class of regular schlicht functions in the unit disk and its subclasses of star-shaped convex functions are considered. New estimates for certain functionals in these classes and representations in the form of schlicht products, including the infinite ones, or different functions of the considered classes are obtained.

In this paper, there are three theorems about the existence of a function \(g: I\to\mathbb{R}\) for a given set \(F\) of real functions defined on the closed interval \(I\) such that \(fg\) is Darboux for any \(f\in F\). Theorem 1. For any countable set \(F\) of Baire functions of the class \(B_ \alpha\), where \(\alpha>1\), there exists a non-zero ...

The Functions of Oncogene Products
1985An understanding of the actions of oncogenes in the process of malignant transformation will ultimately depend on a knowledge of the functions of the protein products of these genes. To date about twenty different oncogenes of either viral or tumor origin have been identified. One or more protein products of each of these oncogenes have been described.
