Comparative Product-Life-Cycle Confrontation of Risks [PDF]

open access: yesThe Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance - Issues and Practice, 1990
The health and environmental risks and benefits of technological products and processes should be evaluated and managed in comprehensive fashion, taking into account the entire production life-cycle from the obtaining of raw materials, to production, through distribution and use, and on through final disposal of the product and all associated wastes ...

Environmental Performance of Kettle Production: Product Life Cycle Assessment [PDF]

open access: yesManagement Systems in Production Engineering, 2017
Abstract The main objective of this paper is to compare the environmental impact caused by two different types of water boiling processes. The aim was achieved thanks to product life cycle assessment (LCA) conducted for stovetop and electric kettles. A literature review was carried out.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

The Product Life Cycle of Durable Goods [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2011
A dynamic model of the product lifecycle of (nearly) homogeneous durables in polypoly markets is established. It describes the concurrent evolution of the unit sales and price of durable goods. The theory is based on the idea that the sales dynamics is determined by a meeting process of demanded with supplied product units.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Nitrogen-Fixing Activity of Root Nodules in Relation to Their Size in Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2007
The nitrogen-fixing activity of root nodules was examined with reference to the nodule size in peanut. Root nodules of field-grown peanut were collected at flowering through harvesting stages and classified into five groups of size using a circle ...
