Production planning models for a central factory with multiple satellite factories
International Journal of Production Research, 1994The production planning problem of minimizing total cost, which consists of transportation cost, processing cost, raw material holding cost, and finished product inventory holding cost in a network of factories involving a central factory and multiple satellite factories is investigated in this paper. Based on two different raw material purchase plans,

Overlapping production scheduling planning with multiple objectives—An ant colony approach
International Journal of Production Economics, 2008Abstract This study presents a novel simple and effective search model for solving the problem of overlapping production schedule planning with multiple objectives using ant colony optimization (ACO). The problem is solved using a network structure and recursive computing of ACO.

Scheduling in a production environment with multiple process plans per job
International Journal of Production Research, 1999Traditional job shop scheduling problems generally assume that there is a single feasible routing with which a part can be processed in a shop. In today's flexible production systems, this assumption is rarely true. For most manufactured parts, it is possible to generate multiple ways to sequence the operations required to realize the finished product.

In this paper, we study a class of manufacturing systems which consist of multiple plants and each of the plants has capability of producing multiple distinct products. The production lines of a certain plant may switch between producing different kinds of products in a time-sharing mode.

Management planning for winter wheat with multiple objectives (2): ethanol-wheat production
Agricultural Systems, 2002Abstract In 1993, the European Community stimulated the production of ethanol-wheat in France by authorising the production of crops for biofuel as an alternative way of using set-aside land. The stakeholders involved aspire to several goals: distillers and farmers seek increased profits whereas the French government wants ethanol-wheat to be ...

Multi-site aggregate production planning with multiple objectives: A goal programming approach
Production Planning & Control, 2003This paper addresses the problem of aggregate production planning (APP) for a multinational lingerie company in Hong Kong. The multi-site production planning problem considers the production loading plans among manufacturing factories subject to certain restrictions, such as production import/export quotas imposed by regulatory requirements of ...
