On oil investment and production: A comparison of production sharing contracts and buyback contracts

Abstract Production sharing contracts (PSCs) and buyback contracts are two important contract modes in the upstream oil industry. In this paper, we build a theoretical model to compare investment and production levels under these two contracts. Our model results show that PSCs lead to higher investment levels than buyback contracts.

Product quality improvement and free replace warranty sharing contracts

A contract mechanism to coordinate the supply chain's decision of product quality in conjunction with a free replacement warranty is proposed in this paper. Considering a supply chain with one manufacturer and one supplier, three schemes of contracts are examined, namely first best, no FRW cost sharing and with FRW cost sharing.
