Despite initial challenges, the healthcare system of Japan effectively managed rectal cancer surgeries during and after the COVID‐19 pandemic. Robotic surgery became more widely adopted, and complication rates improved, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in surgical care.

Surgical Volume and Short‐Term Outcomes After Advanced Hepatectomy in the Postpandemic Era: Analysis of the Japanese National Clinical Database (2018–2023)

This national survey using the National Clinical Database in Japan revealed a persistent decline in the number of advanced hepatectomies, even after the COVID‐19 pandemic. Despite this trend, surgical safety was effectively maintained in the postpandemic period using risk‐adjusted metrics.

Bubbles Acting as Micro End‐Effectors for Dexterous Manipulation and Sensing in Aqueous Environment

Inspired by bubbles, this article proposes a low‐cost method for multifunctional manipulation and sensing using microbubbles in aqueous environments. Bubbles are easily generated in situ, enabling the safe and adaptive handling of microobjects and sensing of microforces and surface textures.
