A Profile Likelihood Approach for Longitudinal Data Analysis
SummaryInappropriate choice of working correlation structure in generalized estimating equations (GEE) could lead to inefficient parameter estimation while impractical normality assumption in likelihood approach would limit its applicability in longitudinal data analysis. In this article, we propose a profile likelihood method for estimating parameters

The microbiome in human skin aging
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Censored median regression and profile empirical likelihood
We implement profile empirical likelihood-based inference for censored median regression models. Inference for any specified subvector is carried out by profiling out the nuisance parameters from the plug-in empirical likelihood ratio function proposed

This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

A Nonparametric Bayesian Approach to the Rare Type Match Problem
The “rare type match problem” is the situation in which, in a criminal case, the suspect’s DNA profile, matching the DNA profile of the crime stain, is not in the database of reference.

Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Profile likelihood confidence intervals.
Confidence intervals are constructed by fixing one parameter and inferring all others over a range of values. Each row corresponds to a different experimental design.
