Depth sensitive sampling of implanted species in Genesis Collectors using UV laser ablation and SIMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
SIMS profiling of laser abalation pits in CVD diamond implanted with oxygen- 18 shows that homogenised 193nm excimer laser beam can successfully ablate a layer a few nm thick, removing surface contamination without signicant loss of implanted ...

High-definition spatial transcriptomics for in situ tissue profiling

open access: yesNature Methods, 2019
Spatial and molecular characteristics determine tissue function, yet high-resolution methods to capture both concurrently are lacking. Here, we developed high-definition spatial transcriptomics, which captures RNA from histological tissue sections on a ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Temperature and humidity profiles in the atmosphere from spaceborne lasers: A feasibility study [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Computer simulations of the differential absorption lidar technique in a space craft for the purpose of temperature and humidity profiling indicate: (1) Current technology applied to O2 and H2O lines in the .7 to .8 micrometers wavelength band gives ...

Targeted in situ genome-wide profiling with high efficiency for low cell numbers

open access: yesNature Protocols, 2018
This protocol describes CUT&RUN, a genome-wide targeted epigenetic profiling method that allows the analysis of low cell numbers at high resolution. Cleavage under targets and release using nuclease (CUT&RUN) is an epigenomic profiling strategy in which ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Meta-analysis of the core aroma components of grape and wine aroma

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
Wine aroma strongly influences wine quality, yet its composition and its evolution during the winemaking process are poorly understood. Volatile compounds that constitute wine aroma are traditionally divided into three classes according to their origin ...

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
